We currently operate a fleet of 11 vans that are kitted out to a very high standard and ready to provide an exceptional high quality service throughout the island of Ireland, north and south.
Our vehicles are equipped to the highest standard in the industry, with each van fitted with custom made light bars, licensed two-way radio, safety equipment, first aid, fire extinguishers, safety signs, measuring equipment etc. as well as a cab heater and bed for overnight stays.
All our senior pilots have completed Advanced Driver Courses and City and Guilds Level 2. All junior pilots must complete a designated number of dual escorts before working solo. Most of our senior pilots have been with us for more than 15 years. Our Company has a combined total of more than 90 years’ load pilot experience.
We take safety very seriously and we believe communication is a priority. It was this commitment that led us to invest €27k in a top line two-way radio system with 4 dedicated channels to traffic and steering as needed. We have excellent skills working with drivers who do not have English as their first language or who may never have driven on the ‘other’ side of the road.
General EU guidelines for Motorway/ Other roads Pilot Cars are:
1 Road Pilot required for loads > 3.50/3.25m wide or >30.0/27.5m long
2 Road Pilots required for loads > 4.00/3.50m wide or >50/32.5m long
It should be noted that some National Roads do not have hard shoulder or grass verges and may require a greater level of piloting. Regional and local roads are also affected in the same way.
